Microsoft’s newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Satya Nadella, while addressing a public event in India for the very first time via webcast, expressed that future of cloud computing is extremely bright and I see great potential in the Indian market.
The technology giant organized its first Azure Conference in India – more than 1,500 people were present on the occasion. Nadella was delighted to address the crowd as the CEO of world’s leading software company.
Nadella, who was born in Hyderabad, India, in 1967, briefly talked about his career and said that upon migrating to the US, he could never have imagined speaking to his own people as the Microsoft’s CEO. The business executive revealed his immense passion for cricket as a youngster.
He claims, Microsoft’s cloud platform, Windows Azure, is achieving great success all around the world, adding about two thousand new clients every month.
As per the Redmond-based company, it has rapidly grown in India over the last one year, primarily due to cloud as increasing number of companies in South Asian country are ready to embrace the new technology. The clients, Microsoft is adding on its cloud platform, are not limited to any single sector; they belong to different niches including manufacturing, banking, education, health-care and media – irrespective of the size of an organization.
While speaking to Business Standard, Karan Bajwa, the Managing Director of Microsoft India said, individuals and organizations are adopting cloud computing at a much faster rate than what was expected a few years back.
Bajwa is delighted on Azure’s amazing success in India and considers cloud technology to be a norm these days as compared to past when it was deemed as a ‘trend’.
According to Microsoft’s Managing Director, Windows Azure’s success in India can be proved in a way that five leading automakers, four finest health care organizations including Fortis Healthcare, three of the best private banks and three major media houses are using the company’s cloud platform.
Nadella, who was appointed as the CEO in February, replacing Steve Ballmer, is of the opinion that trends in the world of technology are changing at a brisk pace and no organization can afford to ignore the importance of cloud.
The cloud industry is estimated to be worth $107 billion by 2017 as shown in the recently concluded International Data Corporations Directions Conference, which is more than twice of what was predicted for 2013.
The Microsoft CEO feels, Azure provides the Indian IT professionals, developers and start-ups an ideal base to promote their applications in the global market. Encouraging the audience to adopt Windows Azure, Nadella said that his company’s cloud service is cost effective as well as efficient, while claiming to offer tremendous opportunities to the Indian developers in future.
India, with a population of more than 1.2 billion, is one of the most attractive markets. The country’s IT industry has flourished tremendously in the previous decade. So it is very obvious that Microsoft and other technology giants such as Google and Apple cannot afford to ignore this highly appealing region.
