ADOPTING CLOUD COMPUTING IN THE LONG RUN

3 min read

When cloud computing was first introduced to the general public, one of the biggest concerns to be had among IT professionals and regular users alike was in regards to its security. The concern over the security and safety of cloud computing platforms and models alike had led to slow adaptation of this particular computing model, at least in the beginning, but recent researches and data on the adoption of cloud computing shows a dramatically different result.

Latest data shows that a vast majority of IT managers are utilizing services and platforms of public cloud computing model, and while security and protection of sensitive data and crucial operations are still the utmost concern among IT managers, the effort of cloud computing providers in providing stronger security for their public cloud platform results in a growing confidence for the cloud model itself. This results in a vast majority of IT managers planning to increase their usage of cloud computing as well as widening the scope of its incorporation to more aspects of their business. Migrating to the public cloud can also be a pretty fast process free of hassles, often taking as short as three months before the cloud computing platform is fully implemented and running smoothly.

FUTURE TRENDS OF CLOUD COMPUTING

There are quite a few reasons behind the increasing popularity of cloud computing and all its platforms in recent years. Most notably, this spike of popularity is influenced by the a growing level of trust for the viability of the cloud, especially in the long term. This is because, as opposed to the more traditional models of computing as we know it, public cloud computing does not suffer from the potential of a single point of failure that could bring down an entire system. Whereas a more traditional computing model might easily go down if one of its servers or other components of its infrastructure is failing or suffering from a break down, public cloud computing uses multiple servers and network infrastructure all at once, minimizing the risk of potential disturbance of the entire system even if one of those servers or network components fail. This, added to the fact that there is no need to do regular maintenance for a public cloud computing model, means that this particular model will be viable even for years to come.

There is, of course, also the factor of convenience to be taken into account when you are considering to implement the cloud computing model. With cloud computing, there is no need for you to do regular maintenance of your network infrastructure, and it also provides you with an easy access to all the resources you need in order to manage the computing environment, something that might be hard to come across if you are using a traditional computing model. These two factors make moving to public cloud computing model an increasingly appealing option to take, and it is no wonder to see that the level of adoption for cloud computing continues to increase.
